It was this Tuesday, June 30 when the country reached its second-highest increase for COVID-19 positive patients with 1,080 cases on just that day. 858 of these are “fresh cases” which, by the way, is also the highest number of fresh cases recorded as of the moment. 430 of those fresh cases were from Central Visayas where Cebu City is located.
After a month, the status quo of the former and emerging virus hotspots remained the same quarantine classifications as COVID-19 PH cases breached its 37,000-mark at the end of June. With this latest tally, 18,384 of the cases came from the National Capital Region and 4,639 from Cebu City.
A new study by the University of the Philippines – OCTA researchers has projected that the novel coronavirus-infected patients in the country could reach 60,000 to more than 70,000 cases by the end of July if the community transmission continues to be unabated.
